One blow, two blow, three blow, blood flow. Gawain Essays

One blow, two blow, three blow, blood flow. Gawain completes his quest started 12 months and a day ago, when he gave the G reen K night a striking blow. Gawain took the place for his beloved king Arthur. Showing his peer of Knight that no matt er the knight, big or small , can stand up to a challenge fit for a K ing. Gawain comes alive for me through his choices and his humble attribute that the author has given him, Even though Gawain is a protector of Guinevere and shares a spot at the round table at the celebration for Arthur, he describes his own self as the weakest link of the knights. Gawain describes his self modestly saying he does not match up to the other knights, and that his lif e would be the least missed. This is a trait that brings me closer to Gawain. By remaining modest, he shows that he is nothing but a human, down to earth , and understands himself and do es not worry what the other knights may thing by him admitting to his weaknesses. Throughout Gawain's journey, he suffers from hunger and cold. Through this Gawain shows his perseverance and determination to keep his promise to the Green Knight. Gawain continues his quest to the end, with out hesitation. To me this is a trait that for most of us can relate to. Wither it be determination to lose weight, a promise that someone made to a friend, or even just a small goal of making your bed every morning. Gawain perseverance and determination makes Gawain relatable. We then find another relatable characteristic from Gawain as he finds shelter in a Castle of an unnamed Lord and Lady. Upon staying there Gawain is asked to agree to one circumstance, and that is to trade off anything that the lord and himself receive while he takes shelter there. The first two day s Gawain shows his honesty and returns whatever he may have received. On the third day Gawain does not return a magic green girdle to the king. The green girdle was promised to save Gawain's life, and as any of us would do he kept it for himself. Gawain comes with a relatable perspective at this point, because wither it be the 21 st century or the era of K ing Arthur even the most honest of man or women may stretch a lie for their own life. Gawain is more than just a character written down onto a page with descriptive writing. Gawain to me is a humble man of Honor, Bravery, Perseverance, and dedication. Gawain was constantly motivated to complete his quest, and as any regular human showed his flaws in a lie. That just show you that no one is perfect.
